Bear found a pretty basic Ant Farm at the Thrift store last weekend so I told him we would be happy to buy some ants online and start a study on ants (and more broadly on insects).
We ordered are ants from AntsAlive and they arrived much faster than I had anticipated! And at $5 for 30, you can't complain. So far they seem active and happy. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of lifespan- I guess we will find out :)
We have the Uncle Milton Green Kit.
I found some free Insect Nomenclature Cards from Montessori Materials: http://www.montessorimaterials.org/science.htm
